KICKSTARTER: BUG HUNT CORRIDORS

Bug Hunt Corridors is a fully modular system of laser fabricated terrain for use with 28mm miniature wargames.  Each individual corridor piece is a multipart model kit made from hobby grade plywood, cut and engraved to high detail by a CO2 laser.  The modular design of Bug Hunt Corridors allows the gamer to make an endless variety of layouts because each section will match up exactly to any other section.  With straight sections, intersections, and corners, (not to mention many exciting stretch goal additions) your corridor layout can be as compact or as sprawling as you wish.
Bug Hunt Corridors represent the winding passageways of any number of wargame settings.  Perhaps you are gaming the interior of an alien ship, or a colony established on a far away planet.  In the Victorian Era the corridors might be the interior of a giant zeppelin or the mountain lair of an evil mastermind.  For the modern gamer, Bug Hunt Corridors easily stands in for any military instillation.  And for the post-apocalyptic, the twists and turns of the corridors may hide a swarm of zombies around any corner.
For all of these gamers, it is my goal to provide high quality, interesting terrain that will greatly add to their game.  Fight inside them, fight outside them.  It is completely up to the player.  Interact with the terrain exactly as you wish your troops to.  Visually stunning, and highly flexible and playable, Bug Hunt Corridors will add just that much more to any miniatures wargame.

This is a work in progress shot of what a painted BHC Straight Section might look like. It can still use a little bit more detail work.

OUR FIRST STRETCH GOAL

The Corridor Endcap is a multipart kit, like the other corridor sections, and matches exactly the dimensions of the open corridor ends.  There are examples of closed off corridors in the second video.  Included in each pack will be sections of dowel rod for use as the vertical pipes down the middle of the Endcap.  Also included will be the sign saying "Dead End" and another saying "Danger".  But enough of me, let the pictures speak for themselves.

Successful funding and our first Basic Stretch Goal.

Thank you all so much for helping this project successfully reach its funding goal!  You rock!  As a token of my gratitude I will be adding the Ganeway Load Lifter and Hex Crates to all Level pledges free of charge.  As an extra thank you to Level 2 and Level 3 pledges I will up the number of crates you receive to 5 small and 5 large crates for Level 2 pledges, and 10 small and 10 large crates for Level 3 pledges.  Thank you!

Basic Stretch Goal #1

Our first Basic Stretch Goal has been successfully unlocked!  With the Corridor End Room you can now begin adding rooms to your Bug Hunt Corridors layout.  The Corridor End Room attaches to the open end of any corridor in the same way as the Endcap.  The room features a fully articulating door so you can set the entry to the room as open or closed, or force players to hack the keypad if it is locked.  Swooshing door sound not included. :)  As a Basic Stretch Goal all those who pledge at Level 1 will receive one Corridor End Room, two for Level 2 pledges, and three for Level 3 pledges.  Should you desire additional rooms they are available in the a la Carte menu.

Basic Stretch Goal #2

Basic Stretch Goal #2 is the Corridor Side Room.  This piece is a variation of the basic Straight Section that has access to a room off one side.  The Corridor Side Room will fit in place of any Straight Section in your layout.  The size of the room has been designed especially so that it will fit in the empty space in the middle of a complete circuit of corridors that is one Straight Section long on a side.

Basic Stretch Goal #3

Basic Stretch Goal #3 in now successfully unlocked.  The Wide Corridor is a slightly different type of corridor in that it uses separate end connectors to attach it to standard corridors.  Between these end connectors you can put any number or wide middle sections to create any length Wide Corridor you wish.  The width of the Wide Corridor is such that it will fit in the empty space in a "U" of corridors, in a similar way to how the Corridor Side Room fits in the middle of a circuit of corridors one Straight Section long on a side.  Level 1 pledges receive 1 pair of end connectors and one wide middle section.  Level 2 pledges receive 1 pair of end connectors and 2 wide middle sections, and Level 3 pledges receive 1 pair of end connectors and 3 wide middle sections.  Additional connectors and sections are available in the Menu, just remember, each Wide Corridor you want in your layout requires its own pair of end connectors.

$31,000 Mini Stretch

This Mini Stretch is a set of acrylic "Locked/Open" Door Tokens for use with your rooms and other pieces that include doors.  When we successfully unlock this Mini Stretch I will add 4 each "Locked" and "Open" Door Tokens (8 total) to all Level 1 pledges, 10 each (20 total) to all Level 2 pledges, and 15 each (30 total) to all Level 3 pledges as a free thank-you for helping us break the $30k barrier.

Advanced Stretch Goal #1

The Airlock is a larger room (approximately 5.5" x 5'), that when connected, will allow you to link your Bug Hunt Corridors to the table top and game both inside and outside of them.  At each end of the Airlock is a wide articulated door that splits down the middle to open.  One of this Advanced Stretch Goal has been added to all Level 3 Pledges and is now also available in the Menu.

Basic Stretch Goal #4

The Interior Wall is a piece that will serve many functions in the Bug Hunt Corridors.  This piece fits inside the end of any corridor section, not between sections, and closes it off with a wall and door.  Placing an Interior Wall at a "dead end" section produces an exterior door.  Placing an Interior Wall at both ends of a section converts that section into a small room.  Now unlocked, 2 Interior Walls will be added to all Level 1 pledges, 4 to all Level 2 pledges, and 6 to all Level 3 pledges.  As an added thank-you, Level 2 pledges will be increased to 6 Interior Walls and Level 3 to 10 Interior Walls.  The Interior Wall is now also available in the Menu for those who want to add more.  *Note the word "Restricted" will be removed from final production pieces.*

Advanced Stretch Goal #2

The Cargo Hold has been successfully unlocked.  This is a large room (approximately 8" x 6.25" x 3.25") that is two stories high, has doors at the opposite ends, and removable catwalks along the other two walls.  The Small and Large Hex Crates fit in bays under the catwalks.  One Cargo Hold has been added to each Level 3 Pledge and is also available in the Menu for $20 each.

Basic Stretch Goal #5

The next stretch goal is the Corridor Two Side Room.  This corridor section is a modification of the Corridor Side Room that adds a second room "right across the hall".

RISKS AND CHALLENGESLearn about accountability on Kickstarter

The risks and challenges with Bug Hunt Corridors are minimal indeed. All of the basic corridor pieces and many stretch goal items have already been designed and prototyped, and the design of additional pieces is continuing. All of the bugs, no pun intended, have already been worked out, though a few small tweaks might find their way into final production pieces. My prototype corridor set has even been used several times for gaming at my local game store with great success!
The biggest challenge will be reward fulfillment when this project is successfully funded. The greatest hurdle has already been crossed, I own the laser and am ready to go into production as soon as this project ends. I have set a conservative delivery date of June 2013. The level of detail I am putting into these pieces does take more time to engrave than other laser engraved/cut designs you might come across. The last thing I want to do is promise deliveries sooner than I will be able to fulfill. I will strive to be as flexible and accommodating as possible during the course of this project so please voice your comments and concerns in the project forum. Who knows, your idea might become the next stretch goal piece!
